Soccer is officially over for the fall but not without some eventfulness. Last night Katy and I were watching TV while her sisters were at Chinese School with Dad. I thought to myself, "It seems a little cold in here. But, I really did not give it a thought because we were going down to a high overnight of 34 degrees so I thought it must be pretty cold outside. Larry and the girls came home and I completed my phone call with my friend Wendy. Again, I commented, "It feels cold in here!" I went over to look at the thermostat to see that the heat was set on 68 but the temperature in the house was reading 65 degrees. I bumped up the heat a degree or two and it kicked on, warmed the house up and kicked off. We went to bed and I woke up at 11:39 and thought again, "It seems cold in here!" I laid in bed and heard the heat fire like it was going to run and then shut back off. I heard it do it again a little bit later. I knew we had a problem. So, I got up and turned on the gas fireplace to heat the upstairs for the girls. I got an electric heater out to help keep Larry and I warm and back to bed I went. Larry had woke up by now from all my movement. We woke up in the morning to a house that was 66 degrees. Not bad for no furnace. I called the furnace repairman and he said he would be here between 11:30 and 12:00. I asked him to call me on my cell phone because I would be at the soccer field.
Now for soccer, we began soccer with 30 degree temperatures at 9:00 with Mya and Maylin playing. Once again, both played GREAT games. Mya scored a goal for her team and Maylin helped set up several goals. At 10:30 Maylin played again. This was a really good game too! At 11:45 Ivy played her last game. Only 3 team mates showed up (I am sure the cold had something to do with it) so Mya, Maylin and another brother jumped in to help make the team complete. It was just a fun, fun game. We endured the cold for 4 hours with winter coats, hats, gloves and blankets.
We arrived home at 1:00 and the phone rang and the furnace repairman called to say he was close. He came, fixed our problem which was something or other blocked and WALAA, we have heat. It is always something and it always seems something simple but not anything we would know to fix. After he collected his weekend rate, he was on his way!
So, I took a couple parting soccer pictures! I think the girls are all a little sad that soccer is over. I will truly miss watching their playing but I am truly sick of the cold. This has been the coldest and wetest soccer season I can remember!
