Annual Videourodynamics

Today Katy had her annual videourodynamics.  It is a very unpleasant test for the bladder and kidneys but she is such a trooper for it. She actually is admitted for outpatient surgery, has to do admitting paperwork, and wait in the preop area before being taken back to an operating room for her test.  She then comes back to recover and has to go through release paperwork and then home we get to go.  It is at least a 3 hour process if all runs smoothly. One time we waited over two hours just to get in the operating room because an emergency came in.

Today test results were not as positive as hoped for or as in the past.  Her bladder pressures are still very low.  However, her bladder has taken on an oblong shape versus a round which is what it is suppose to be.  The reason could be that Katy has a tethered spinal cord and it may be affecting her bladder.  She has to have an ultrasound and her Urologist will then decide if she needs to call Katy's Neurosurgeon and talk about surgery to release her cord.  So, we just commit all of this to Jesus.

Katy received the reward on the way home of a kid's meal from Wendy's.  Later in the afternoon, all the girls and I went on a little shopping spree to start preparing for summer.  We do hope it is going to come one day!

We are so proud of you, Katy. It takes a strong and special girl for you to go through those hard tests. We are thinking of you and pray that you can continue to be strong and trust in Jesus as you wait for what the doctors and your parents decide what is the best treatment for you.

We Love You, Sweet Girl,
